Navigate to you game files folder, and find your latest EP. In that folder is a file like TS3EP11.exe. Rightclick on that, and create a shortcut. Go to your desktop and paste it. Clicking on that will bypass the launcher and allow you to play. I haven't used origin in years, but it used to use the launcher to link you to Origin.
Just to clarify, you do not need to reinstall Sims 2 if you move to the EA App and the game no longer shows in your library (not that this is guaranteed to happen - the game installs and runs fine from the EA App for me, so it's still available, and is likely related to the all the other content issues people are having in the new app, not exclusive to Sims 2).
Even if you load another Sims game, you still need a disk. Once you do install a new Sims game, you will have to use the latest games installed CD in order to play.
